THE Latin Moves Youth Program

“Enriching Youth Lives through Dance”

Our mission at Latin Moves is to create an experience which fosters harmony and promotes personal wellness in a safe, caring and fun filled environment.

Latin Moves’ youth program offers Salsa, Hip Hop, Tap and Bachata classes. These classes are taught by experienced instructors who treat each of their students with respect and encourage them to reach their full potential.  Teamwork, reasoning and conflict resolution are encouraged and emphasized throughout the program.

Our classes are detailed, intense and extremely high energy. We create a learning environment that is suitable to all. We cater to beginners assuring a foundation that will strengthen and help each dancer strive and pursuit whichever dance path they desire.

Our Program Goals:

·         Learn the fundamentals of dance

·         Gain an appreciation for music

·         Build new friendships

·         Learn how to work in a team environment

·         Perform at our spring recital

To Latin Moves Dance Studio Parents from Ms. Kimberly and Ms. Tiffany:

We are honored you have considered LMDS for the artistic growth of your child(ren). We are dedicated to the growth of your child(ren) and thrilled to see their progression throughout the year. As we kick off the new dance year, we'd like to thank you for your support and interest as it allows the program to flourish. This open house is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about what's in store for your child(ren) in our 2024-2025 dance year as we will provide important information about our program, upcoming events, and other exciting opportunities.

During our 2024-2025 dance season, we have increased rehearsal time from 45 minutes to 60 minutes. Our goal is for dancers to gain independence, explore creativity, gain/increase confidence, and have seamless performances. It is imperative that we work together as a team, and everyone plays a crucial role in the success and growth of the team. We recognize and understand how your support aids in building growth for both the individual dancer and the group collectively.

Every child MUST wear their HURACAN T-SHIRTS and the proper footwear in every class they attend.

Each Salsero y Salsera is required to wear jazz dance shoes or heels during Salsa Classes. Sneakers are required for Hip Hop. Crocs, sandals or Jazz shoes are not permitted. Tap dance shoes will be the only shoes allowed in Tap Classes. As we strive to set a higher standard, there will be no exceptions.

We promote uniformity and encourage dancers to wear proper attire to each class genre. At teachers' discretion, dancers who are (constantly/regularly) not in proper dance attire may not be able to participate for that day.

Our goal is to not only have fun, and engage in new movements, but to set an amicable yet disciplined environment that fosters growth and productivity. With that in mind, we'd like to iterate a few important expectations. It is imperative that dancers wear their hair in ponytails or buns. Loose hair becomes a distraction.

To alleviate extra rehearsals during recital season, we are mandating and enforcing that all dancers attend every rehearsal. With that in mind, REHEARSAL WILL BE MANDATORY from January through June. Absences will result in failure for dancers to perform. Students will only be allotted 2 absences. If those 2 absences are exhausted, unfortunately, the students) will NOT have the opportunity to perform as the class is collectively working towards finishing a final product for their recital, Tristate Fest and the Youth Dance Festival in Orlando. It is our obligation to honor emergencies and unforeseen circumstances. In addition, we ask that in the case of a lengthy planned event or vacation, you should consider giving notice on behalf of your child(ren).

Please encourage your child(ren) to rehearse at home. We recommend rehearsing at least 3 times a week. Home rehearsals aid in retaining choreography and allow the group to learn more material. It also aids in allowing the group to flourish as a group including formations, transitions, flips, splits, stunts, etc. Home rehearsal rationale: When choreography is constantly retaught, it potentially hinders the growth of the group. Reteaching choreography leads to a lot of extra last-minute rehearsals which can be exhausting for everyone. It also becomes boring or disinteresting for the children who have practiced.

Once again, Tiffany and I are grateful to have the opportunity to work with your child(ren) and are excited to see them progress while building their confidence. Thank you for your commitment and thank you for supporting your child’s dance journey this year. We appreciate your time and patience.
